Degree:
  • Master´s Degree in Plant Biotechnology specialization in Molecular Breeding and Pathology, Wageningen University & Research (Netherlands).
  • Bachelor´s Degree in Biotechnology, Universidad de  Barcelona.
Practice Areas:
  • Drafting and prosecution of Patent and Utility Model applications before the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office (SPTO), European Patent Office (EPO), World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), and foreign jurisdictions, especially in America and Asia.
  • Analysis on patentability, infringement, validity, freedom to operate (FTO).
  • State-of-the-art searches.
  • Preparation and prosecution of oppositions and appeals before the SPTO, EUIPO, and EPO.
  • Technical areas related to biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, genetics, bioinformatics, agrifood sciences and plant varieties.

  • Diploma in European Patent Law. School of Industrial Organization (EOI), in collaboration with the European Patent Institute (EPI), Centre d'Études Internationales de la Propriété Intellectuelle (CEIPI), and the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office.
  • Numerous conferences and seminars on Intellectual Property organized by the SPTO, WIPO, EPO, AIPPI, CPVO, UPOV, among others.
Professional Career:

Prior to joining UNGRIA's Madrid office, he started his professional career as an assistant professor teaching Programming in Python at the Wageningen University & Research. Then, he completed a consulting project in Amsterdam for a Dutch-Thai multinational in the agricultural industry. After completing said project, he joined the multinational and was relocated to Bangkok as an Intellectual Property specialist, where he advised R&D, logistics and business operations teams of several countries, primarily Southeast Asia, Africa and Latin America.

After a solid career abroad, he returned to Spain and joined UNGRIA as a patent specialist, where he develops his professional activity providing technical advice on patent applications, prosecution and defense, focusing in technical areas related to biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, genetics, bioinformatics and agri-food sciences.

He has also specialized in Supplementary Protection Certificates (SPCs) for pharmaceuticaland phytosanitary products, as well as in Plant Variety Protection Certificates in accordance with the UPOV Convention.
